Three to four times per week
I check on the Trumpeter Swans, invariably to find they are ALWAYS on the far side
of the lake! Very frustrating for this
amateur photog! On Wednesday, however,
they were out and about and I managed to get a couple of passable snaps which
at least show that the four cygnets are all flourishing. The babes look great: happy and healthy! Soon it will be time for us to send them to our
wonderful friend Jim Lawrence in Monticello for
safe-keeping over the winter months.
Since young newly-mated trumpeter
pairs often select a nesting spot where
the pen (female) was born, I am hopeful the St. Croix River Valley will
soon be home to a thriving flock of these wondrous white birds!
